Waterford trainer, Henry de Bromhead, has revealed that a race at Cheltenham 2023 is to be renamed in honour of his young son, Jack.
13-year-old Jack passed away in a tragic accident at a pony race in Kerry in September.
Ryanair boss, Michael O'Leary will now rename the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at next year's Cheltenham Festival in memory of the young boy.
The race is sponsored by O'Leary and that is usually reflected in the name.
According to Racing TV, the extended two-mile contest is the long-term target for De Bromhead's 'Magical Zoe'.
Speaking to the outlet today (Tuesday) at Fairyhouse, Henry thanked Michael O'Leary for his decision.
"Michael O'Leary has very kindly said they're going to name the Mares' Hurdle the Jack de Bromhead Mares' Hurdle, which is incredible," the Knockeen trainer said.
Henry was speaking after getting off to a flying start at Fairyhouse this afternoon, when 'Gateau De Miel', the 15/8 favourite, ran out a wide margin winner of the opening steeplechase.
It comes on the back of his 'Envoi Allen' returning to his very best form in the Grade 1 Champion Chase at Down Royal on Saturday.
The 7/2 shot stayed on strongly at the business-end of matters to win a shade cosily under Rachael Blackmore.
