Second half goals from Conor Gleeson and Dylan Guiry saw The Nire run out 2-17 to 0-6 winners over Brickey Rangers in the first Waterford SFC quarter final at Fraher Field

Jamie Barron marked his return from a quad injury with three first half points. Gleeson finished as top scorer with 1-3 while Dermot Ryan kicked five points.

The Conway Cup holders led 11-4 at the break. Six different players got on the scoresheet. Gleeson and Barron led the way with three each. Tom Barron started at full back on Brickeys' danger man Tom O'Connell. The Waterford attacker converted two frees while Eoin Barry and Mark Cummins scored from play.

On 40 minutes, midfielder Sean Walsh dodged around three defenders and offloaded to Gleeson who lashed the ball to the net. Dylan Guiry palmed home a second goal seven minutes from time. Ryan struck points off left and right. Ciaran Walsh could have added two further goals but blasted one chance over the bar and sent the other right and wide. Brickeys keeper Mikey Dwyer denied Guiry and Michael Moore late on.
