Kelyn Cassidy has moved one step closer to boxing at the Paris Olympics later this summer.
The Saviours' Crystals boxer won his round of 32 bout at the qualifiers in Thailand this morning, taking a unanimous decision on the judge's scorecards to beat India's Abhimanyu Loura.
Cassidy is now within two wins of boarding the plane to France in July. He returns to the ring on Thursday for the round of 16.
The Ballyeg native will take on Gazimagomed Schami Gafruova Jalidov. The Russian-born Spaniard won his second bout with a clear 5-0 on the scorecards to beat Stiven Aas of Estonia.
If Cassidy beats the Spaniard on Thursday, he will have little time to recover before his final bout a day later on Friday.
He needs to win these next two fights if he is to board the plane to France.
