Waterford are through to the All Ireland camogie quarter finals for the fifth year in a row.
Beth Carton shot 1-6 and Mairéad O'Brien also found the net in a hard fought 2-12 to 1-12 win over Clare in Ennis. Clodagh Carroll, Róisín Kirwan and Niamh Rockett also starred for Derek Lyons' side.
In front of a small crowd, wind assisted Waterford led 1-7 to 0-5 at half time. Rockett was fouled for a penalty on 14 minutes and Carton lashed the ball to the top corner of the net. She finished the half on 1-4. Rockett and Kirwan were also on target.
Clare cut the gap to one by the 52nd minute with four unanswered points. Orlaith Duggan fired four from play for the home side.
Abby Flynn and Róisín Kirwan lifted the pressure with white flags. On 58 minutes, Mairéad O'Brien made a brilliant catch from a Flynn delivery and blasted home. Clare replied straight away as Chloe Morey netted at the other end.
In a frantic finish, Brianna O'Regan saved from Clare sub Muireann Scanlon and Iona Heffernan stopped Morey's free. The visitors were relieved to hear the final whistle.
Waterford will meet Limerick in the All Ireland quarter finals on July 16 at Semple Stadium.
