Tramore boxer Zara Breslin has officially announced she will make her professional debut on May 30th at Leopardstown Racecourse, featuring on a JB Promotions card.
The Waterford native brings an outstanding amateur pedigree into the professional ranks, having spent 14 years competing at the highest level. During that time, Breslin claimed five Irish titles and represented Ireland on both the European and World stages.
Among her standout achievements was a victory over Siobhán McKenna in the 2019 Irish Senior National Championships final, as well as a dominant 5-0 win against Isabella Hughes in last year’s National Elite Competition, where she secured the 60kg national title.
Breslin also made headlines in 2023 when she faced Olympic champion Kellie Harrington in the Irish National Elite Championships, gaining valuable experience against one of the sport’s top names.
Now, the 25-year-old is turning her attention to a new chapter in her career.
Announcing the move, Breslin said she is “ready for the next challenge” and is excited to pursue new goals in the professional ranks.
“I’m delighted to officially announce that I will be making my professional debut on May 30th at Leopardstown Racecourse,” she said. “I’d like to thank Jay Byrne for the opportunity to make my debut on such a fantastic show.”
Breslin, who has been a member of Tramore Boxing Club since her early years, will work under Robbie Flynn Management as she begins her professional journey, while continuing her long-standing partnership with coach Ray Kelly.
Her achievements were recognised last October with a mayoral reception at City Hall, highlighting her contribution to boxing in Waterford.
Tickets for the debut event are now available, with Breslin encouraging supporters to come along and be part of a special occasion.
She is also seeking local businesses to partner with her as sponsors as she embarks on this exciting new chapter.
With a strong foundation built in the amateur ranks, Breslin now looks set to make her mark in the professional game.
