There were mixed fortunes for the Waterford Boxing Clubs involved in the National Senior Elite Championships at the National Stadium yesterday (Saturday).

Kelyn Cassidy won back-to-back Senior elite titles at 80kgs with a unanimous points decision.

The Saviours Crystal man won all three rounds comfortably to defeat Dean Clancy from Sean McDermotts Boxing Club, 5-0.

Despite having three great rounds, Harrington won by unanimous decision in the 60kg final, 5-0.

Paul Looman from St. Carthage’s Boxing Club defeated Sean Purcell of Saviours Crystal’s by a unanimous decision in the 57kgs final.

The Waterford boxing clubs finished the night with a second Senior Elite title following an excellent performance by Dungarvan Boxing Club’s Christina Desmond.
