Dundalk 0 Waterford FC 0

Waterford secured another vital point in this season's SSE Airtricity Premier Division as the held Dundalk to a scoreless draw at Oriel Park.

But they will thank their goalkeeper Sam Sargeant for that point as he made three excellent saves to deny the Lilywhites.

The first chance fell to the home side on four minutes when he dived full length to his left to palm away a Robbie Benson shot from distance and then he denied Sam Durrant with an even better close range parry on 36 minutes.

In between Padraig Amond had a wonderful chance to put the visitors in front when his diving header from a Barry Baggley cross was blocked by Ross Munro.

Baggley was again denied by the Dundalk netminder minutes before the break when he broke through the defence but somehow Munro got down to his effort.

Sargeant was again on hand to save Blues' blushes 12 minutes from the end as he denied substitute Cameron Elliot who beat the Waterford defence.

And Waterford could have taken all three points when Maleace Asamoah picked up a wonderful ball from Niall O Keeffe but he fired his 20 yard shot just wide of the upright.
