St Patrick's Athletic 3 Waterford FC 0
Waterford FC came off second best despite a good showing against St Patrick's Athletic at Inchicore where they lost out by three goals to nil.
The Blues welcomed Keith Long back into the dugout following his recent three match suspension and they made one change to the side that beat Dundalk at the RSC last week. Sam Sargeant returned between the posts after missing eight games with a broken bone in his hand.
Both sides were full of endeavour in the opening period with Sam Sargeant and Joseph Anang very busy is each goal.
Pat's got the breakthrough on 35 minutes when former Blue Zack Elbouzedi was sent away by Brandon Kavanagh who threaded an excellent ball between Grant Horton and Darragh Power and the winger fired past Sargeant for the opener.
Four minutes later, the home side were two up when Mason Melia reacted fastest to a loose ball and he drove it home from inside the area.
Waterford battled hard to get back into the game and again, Anang was called into action a number of times to deny the visitors.
However, the Saints made the game safe twelve minutes from time when substitute Aidan Keena was put through by Kian Leavy and he gave Sargeant no chance.
