St Patrick’s Athletic 2 Waterford FC 2

Waterford FC produced one of their best performances of the season to secure a deserved share of the spoils as they came from behind to draw two all with St Patrick’s Athletic at Inchicore.

John Coleman made two changes with Kacper Radkowski out for a number of weeks so Rowan McDonald came in while Conan Noonan was restored to the starting eleven after being tied due to his loan agreement arrangements with Shamrock Rovers so Dean McMenamy dropped back to the bench.

And the Blues had the perfect start with a goal inside two minutes when Tommy Lonergan reacted fastest to a high ball from Conan Noonan and he slotted past Joseph Anang.

And they should have had a second on 17 minutes when Horton delivered a perfect cross for Noonan but his excellent bicycle kick was touched away by Anang.

St Pat’s levelled the game just before the half hour when a weak Joe Redmond shot was picked up by Mason Melia and he fired past Stephen McMullan into the bottom corner.

Melia scored his second five minutes later when he dispossessed James Olayinka on the half way line and he raced into the area before slotting it past McMullan.

Despite dominating possession, the Blues were being held at bay by St Pat’s until the 80th minute when Horton lofted another cross into the area. Jesse Dempsey came in deep and tried to place it but the shot was blocked by Joe Redmond and the ball fell to Noonan and he blasted home from a tight angle to secure a point
