Waterford FC 0 Shelbourne 1
Waterford closed out the first half of the season with a disappointing loss to Shelbourne as a defensive error handed the league leaders all three points at the RSC.
Keith Long named an unchanged side from the team that beat Sligo Rovers last week while Damien Duff had to make two changes with injuries to Sean Boyd and Paddy Barrett. Kameron Ledwidge came in for Barrett with Liam Burt getting the nod on the wing.
Shelbourne had the better of the opening exchanges with Sam Sargeant saving from John Martin and Will Jarvis in the opening ten minutes. A shot over the bar from Dean McMenamy was the best from Waterford in the opening half though they did enjoy some good pressure in the last fifteen minutes of the opening period.
The Blues started the second half brightly with chances from Ben McCormack and Podge Amond just off target.
However, the deadlock was broken on 55 minutes when Grant Horton was dispossessed by Will Jarvis and the winger charged into the area and curled the ball beyond Sargeant.
Waterford did attempt to get back on level terms with Parsons testing Conor Kearns twelve minutes from time and Amond did have the ball in the net but it was ruled out for offside.
