Waterford FC will look to arrest a recent slump tomorrow night when they make the long trip to take on Drogheda United in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

Keith Long brings his side back on the road, looking to return to winning-ways.

The Blues have won two of their opening three away games so far in 2025, with impressive wins away to Sligo Rovers (3-2) and Derry City (2-1) earlier in the campaign, and will hope to add to that number come 10pm on Friday evening.

The Blues will look to build on their points tally in Drogheda on Friday, as the side go into the game with nine points to their name from their opening seven games – sitting in fifth position in the league table as we near the end of the opening round of fixtures. Drogheda occupy third place, three points ahead of the Blues.

After winning the 2024 Sports Direct FAI Cup at the start of November last year, Kevin Doherty’s Drogheda United have brought that momentum into the new campaign with a strong start to their 2025 season.

Drogheda have lost just one of their first seven league games – most recently drawing away to Cork City at Turners Cross last Friday.

The Blues have no fresh injury concerns from last week with Andy Boyle & Matty Smith the only two missing the trip to Sullivan & Lambe Park due to injury.

“Drogheda are a really well organised side that have some really good, energetic, players. We’re clear on what we’re going to have to do to try and get a result a result up there tomorrow evening. It’s a tough place to go with a tight pitch, but it’s one we’re looking forward to”, said Assistant Manager, Matt Craddock.
