Bohemian FC 2 Waterford FC 1
Waterford FC’s return to league action ended in disappointment after a entertaining game against Bohemians at Dalymount Park.
John Coleman made two changes to the side that lost at Turners Cross at the end of last month with Rowan McDonald gone to Coleraine while Muhammadu Faal dropped to the bench with Grant Horton and Jordan Rossiter coming into the starting eleven.
And it was the visitors who started brightly taking the game to Bohs with Podge Amond hitting the upright inside the first two minutes and they were well on top until a disastrous mistake on the half hour handed the lead to home side. A speculative high cross into the area from Niall Morahan was spilled into his net by Stephen McMullan.
However, the Blues dug deep and were rewarded deep in injury time when Amond chased the ball into the six yard area and his header looped over the keeper and despite a Morahan clearance the assistant referee waved for the goal.
The second half began with Bohs back on the offensive and the introduction of Dayle Rooney swung the game back in favour of the home side. Their reward arrived on 66 minutes when Adam McDonnell found Archie Meekison inside the area and the Scotsman swivelled to fire the ball to the top corner.
Waterford’s best chance of an equaliser arrived late in the game but Amond’s header was never troubling Kacper Chorazka.
