Galway United 1 Waterford FC 0

Waterford FC's good run of wins in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division came to end at Eamonn Deacy Park as Galway United took all three points with a one nil win.

The game was decided midway through the first half as Patrick Hickey pounced on a loose ball when the Blues failed to deal with a long throw in from Ed McCarthy and he fired home from close range in what proved to be the only goal of the game.

Podge Amond had a great chance to equalise just before the break when he met a Connor Evans cross but he could only watch as the ball came crashing back off the crossbar.

An improved second half performance from the visitors wasn't enough to get anything from the game with Dean McMenamy's forcing a good save from Brendan Clarke their best effort and they leave Galway with nothing!
