Waterford FC 2 Treaty United 0
Waterford FC head into next week's playoffs with a confidence boosting 2 -0 win over Treaty United at a rain soaked RSC.
Keith Long again changed things around with Darragh Power the only player remaining in the starting lineup from the game in Kerry.
The horrendous weather conditions played their part and there were few chances for either side in the opening half. Waterford did have the ball in the net on twenty minutes but the offside flag ruled it out. Barry Baggley fired a shot over and Ronan Coughlan was denied a goalscoring opportunity by a timely tackle from Ben O Riordan.
Treaty came close on two occasions before the break with an unmarked Dean George not finding the target with his header and then Colin Conroy scooped the ball over with the goal at his mercy.
Waterford got the breakthrough on 55 minutes when a Barry Baggley corner was cleared into the path of Ryan Burke who fired low to the net off the post.
Shane Griffin went close just after the hour mark when his free kick flew just over the crossbar.
Waterford continued to press forward and were rewarded deep in injury time when the Blues broke out from defence with Shane Griffin sending Roland Idowu away. He skipped by the outrushing Corey Chambers and he had the easy task of passing to Dean McMenamy who slotted home from close range.
