Wexford FC 2 Waterford FC 1

Waterford FC closed out their pre season preparations with a mix of under 20's and first teamers and a loss to Wexford FC at Ferrycarrig.

The Blues hit the front after just nine minutes as a Tommy Lonergan cross picked out Jack Garrett at the back post and he gave Paul Martin no chance from close range.

The lead lasted just eleven minutes as a sweeping move from the home side brought an excellent equaliser when Aaron Dobbs clever flick sent Mikie Rowe away down the right and he found Ryan Kelly with a low cross and the winger made no mistake with an excellent shot.

Minutes later, Jack Larkin forced a great finger tip save from Brad Wade in the Blue's goal with a 20 yard shot while Wade was also forced into a tip over just minutes into the second half.

Wexford continued to pressure the Blues and Aaron Dobbs rose to meet a Larkin corner just after the hour but the ball was somehow scrambled away by the defence.

They broke the deadlock fourteen minutes from time when Rowe fired to the net with a thunderous shot after a great solo run.
