Waterford FC sit atop the League of Ireland First Division table having grabbed a second win on the spin with a 1-0 win over Bray Wanderers last night.
Louis Britton's first-half goal proved decisive as the Blues made it two league wins from two under Ian Morris.
Bray set out their stall for a defensive setup and they absorbed the pressure from the whistle.
Louis Britton, the 20 year old loanee from Bristol City was a thorn in their side from the outset.
His first chance came on 16 minutes when he pounced on an Anthony Wordsworth chip to get behind the defensive line but his lob over the keeper was just a little high.
Five minutes later, he rounded the defence and raced into the area but as he tried to go around Michael Kelly, the Bray netminder managed to get a finger to the ball to deny him.
There was no stopping him on 27 minutes when Richard Taylor’s cross from the left was awkwardly handled by the Bray defence and Britton was on hand to slot home from close range to give Waterford a deserved lead.
The second half was a different affair as Waterford struggled to break down a resolute Bray side who had their only real chance before the hour when Rob Manley forced a great save from Brian Murphy.
Eddie Nolan should have doubled the lead on 73 minutes but his header sailed outside the upright and Richard Taylor saw his 25 yard looping shot just land over the bar 5 minutes later.
There were some anxious moments with a couple of late corners from Bray but Waterford held firm for all three points.
