Waterford FC 2 Rockmount AFC 2 (AET) Rockmount win 7-6 on penalties

Having twice come from behind, Rockmount of Cork have dumped Waterford FC out of the Munster Senior Cup for the second season in succession, following a penalty shootout at Ben Wadding Park. The Blues opened with a flurry and had the opening goal inside four minutes as Jordan Faria produced a fine solo effort to race past a defender and into the area before calmly slotting the ball past Adam Mylod. It looked as if this was going to be a easy night for the home side but a loose tackle from Ronan Mansfield on sixteen minutes handed a penalty to Rockmount which was dispatched by Eoin Murphy to the bottom corner, sending Igor Bacela the wrong way. Despite dominating possession the Blues could not find a way through in ninety minutes and the game was only two minutes into extra time when Orion Cala struck a wonderful right footed effort to the roof of the net. There was still time for drama as Murphy fired his second penalty of the night on the stroke of half time in extra time after he was up ended inside the area. With no further goals, the shootout saw a penalty each being missed in regulation but an excellent save by Jake O Leary to deny Noah O Brien in the third of the sudden death penalties allowed James O Connell to step up to fire Rockmount into their second successive final.
