Waterford Olympian Thomas Barr hit a hurdle in his Olympic preparations - figuratively and literally - last night in Oslo.
Crossing his second hurdle on the turn, Barr clipped the metal with his shin and fell to the floor, falling out of the race before it really got started.
Norwegian Karston Warholm would go on to set a new world record of 46.70 in the 400m hurdles, busting the previous record (46.78) by some distance. The previous record was set by Kevin Young at the 1992 games in Barcelona.
Barr's preparations for Tokyo had gone without a hitch until last night, clocking his third-fastest time ever in Finland in recent weeks.
Having hit the floor, he limped off the track, but last night he confirmed that there was no major injury concern and that his preparations for Japan were still on track.
