Ballymacarbry have knocked out the Munster champions Mourneabbey to march on in the provincial ladies football championship.
The Deise standard setters who collected their outstanding 41st Waterford title in a row last weekend, were 3-7 to 0-7 winners at a wet and windy Clyda Rovers GAA Grounds.
Ballymacarbry led by 2-3 to 0-1 at half time, as they had the aid of the elements in the first half.
Aileen Wall got the day's first green flag on four minutes, when she took in a great pass from Michelle Ryan and smashed to the net.
On 11 minutes, Ryan went from provider to score with a beautifully taken effort from an angle before Brid McMaugh's monstrous 40 metre free then sailed between the posts.
Mike Guiry's side were then awarded a penalty, McMaugh struck the crossbar but was on hand to bundle in the rebound.
Sinead Kenrick hit a superb score before the break, and when Mourneabbey got three points through Doireann and Brid O'Sullivan - Sadhbh Hallinan had all the answers as did Kenrick, her second score making it 2-6 to 0-5.
Hearts were in mouths as both Karen McGrath and Kelly-Ann Hogan spent time in the sin bin, but the result was all but secured on 49 minutes - Aileen Wall picking out Claire Walsh for the third goal of the afternoon, before Caoimhe Barron's point finished proceedings.
Ballymacarbry now go on to face a tough test against Kerry champions Southern Gaels.
In the intermediate quarter final, there was also success for Erin's Own, who were 0-8 to 0-6 winners against Castlehaven in Poleberry.
