Ballygunner are Waterford Minor ‘A’ Hurling champions for the third year running.

The Gunners defeated Roanmore 1-24 to 1-15 in the decider at Walsh Park this evening.

Man-of-the-match Mark Hartley struck 0-12 for the champions in a virtuoso performance – eight of his efforts coming from play.

Mikey Maloney hit 1-3 on the night and Jack Power was also instrumental with 0-5 from play.

Roanmore plugged away throughout but the Gunners victory never looked in doubt – despite 0-8 from Eoin Burke and 1-2 for Caoilinn Reville.

It’s a third title in a row for Ballygunner and a remarkable 11th in 12 years.

Darragh O’Sullivan was named as Waterford minor hurling manager last night and having led this side to county honours, there’s no doubt many of this side will don Déise white and blue in the years ahead.
