Ballygunner are a first step closer towards regaining the Munster club hurling title.
The 12 in a row Waterford champions – who lost last year’s final – defeated Limerick champions Na Piarsaigh in a quarter-final tie at the Gaelic Grounds.
It finished 0-18 to 0-15 in favour of the Waterford side.
Pauric Mahony was absent for Ballygunner but nevertheless they led on a scoreline of 0-8 to 0-5 at halftime.

Early in the second half, Na Piarsaigh briefly took the lead with a Ronan Lynch free.
However, in the closing stages, Ballygunner scored three consecutive points to seal victory.
Next up for Ballygunner is a clash with Sarsfields of Cork in two weeks time in a home tie at Walsh Park.
