All-Ireland champions Ballygunner continued from where they left off as they strolled past a tired Kilruane McDonaghs in this afternoon's Munster Club SHC Quarter-Final at Walsh Park winning by seventeen points.

Having played against the elements in the opening period the Gunners held a 1-11 to 0-7 advantage at the change of ends. Man of the match Patrick Fitzgerald who finished with 1-4 netted on the stroke of half-time after receiving a pin-point pass from the lively Dessie Hutchinson who notched three quick fire points in that opening period.

Kilruane goalkeeper Páidí Williams produced a fine save to deny Kevin Mahony what looked a certain goal.

Cian Darcy kept the Tipperary champions in touch with some neat scores but ultimately the Gunners were on top and that superiority really showed in the second period as both sides emptied their benches.

Kevin Mahony had a brilliant 2nd-half as the Gunners sharpness and slick hurling ability came to the fore once again, the youngest Mahony brother would end the afternoon with 2-2 from play in what was a fine team performance by the Waterford champions.

Substitute Harry Ruddle also raised a green flag following a well worked move, the All-Ireland hero from last February blasting low to the net. Fitzgerald ended with 1-4 on his senior Provincial debut as the Gunners shot 4-16 from play in a tour de force performance.

It's a case of job done and onto the last four where Limerick champions Na Piarsaigh lie in wait for a Munster semi-final showdown at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Sunday November 20th, a game we'll have live here on WLR thanks to George Corbett Skoda.
