A Club in Full Flight
Ballygunner’s dominance at county and provincial level has become routine. The club secured its 12th successive Waterford Senior Hurling Championship crown this past September. They did so with an emphatic victory over Mount Sion.
Just weeks later, Ballygunner claimed their latest Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship title. They defeated Éire Óg Inis by 0–21 to 1–9 at Semple Stadium.
This sustained success shows how far the club has come since its founding in 1954. What began as a rural parish club built around underage hurling is now a powerhouse. The club enjoys massive participation at both youth and adult levels. Its connection to the community remains as strong as ever.
Ballygunner now know their opponents for the upcoming Senior Club Hurling Semi-Final. They will face St Martin’s of Wexford after a dramatic Leinster Final yesterday.

St Martin’s booked their place with a last-minute winner from substitute Ben Stafford. They edged past Kilkenny champions Ballyhale Shamrocks in a thrilling contest that went to the wire. The late score sent the Wexford side through to the semi-final.
For Ballygunner, this is another major step in their championship campaign. They remain focused on achieving further provincial and national success. Their blend of experience, physicality and high-tempo hurling will be vital. Attention now turns to breaking down one of Leinster’s form teams.
St Martin’s arrive with huge momentum. The late heroics of Ben Stafford have lifted confidence within the camp. All signs point to a fascinating semi-final encounter.
Once the date and venue are confirmed, we will have more to follow, including full match build-up, team news and key match-ups to watch.
