West Waterford’s Tom Ahern was one of the standouts for Munster rugby this afternoon in their interpro clash with Connacht.

The Ardmore man dotted over for a first half try after Jack Crowley placed a lovely chip over the Connacht defence.

Craig Casey added to Munster’s points tally before Alex Nankivell was shown a red card after a review from the TMO.

However, at the half way stage, Munster lead the Westerners by 18-5.

Jack Crowley added a third try for Munster in the second half before Diarmuid Barron added the all important fourth try for the bonus point to place Munster with a eighteen points lead.

However, the Westerners came back with late scores to make it a nervy finish for the province.

But Munster held out, despite being a man down, for a hard fought 30-24 bonus point away win.
