Liverpool have ended talks with Tottenham over Andy Robertson.

Spurs made their move late last week. Manager Thomas Frank wanted to add experience to his squad.

Liverpool considered the request due to Robertson’s long service. He is also out of contract this summer.

However, the club has now decided not to proceed. Robertson did not ask to leave. He turns 32 in March.

Robertson has started only four Premier League games this season. He has lost his place to Milos Kerkez. He has started four Champions League matches. These included games against Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan.

Robertson came on at half-time in Saturday’s defeat at Bournemouth. Head coach Arne Slot later said Kerkez was withdrawn due to injury risk.

Slot has already lost defenders Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni for the season. Joe Gomez also went off injured against Bournemouth. The club hopes the injury is minor. Ibrahima Konate has missed the last two matches after his father’s death.

Captain Virgil van Dijk said he does not want Robertson to leave. Slot also said he wants to keep his squad together. Liverpool remains in the Champions League and the FA Cup.

Liverpool listened to the approach in recognition of Robertson’s contribution to the club in the last eight-and-a-half years and the fact that he is out of contract in the summer.
