Abbeyside advance to SHC Quarter Finals

Abbeyside are the first team through to the Waterford SHC Quarter Finals after an emphatic eleven point victory over Fourmilewater at Fraher Field on Saturday evening (0-23 to 0-12).

Michael O'Halloran hit eleven frees as Benji Whelan's side made it back to back championship wins. Charlie Treen (0-5), Michael Kiely (0-3) and Rian Walsh (0-3) also caught the eye up front. Fourmilewater looked rusty in their first championship outing. They finished with twelve wides.

The Villagers led 12-7 at the break. Michael O'Halloran nailed six frees. Full forward Michael Kiely got the better of his battle with Conor Gleeson and shot three points from play. Corner man Charlie Treen clipped over two. Conor Prunty faced up to inter county team mate Jamie Barron and split the posts. Aaron Ryan got three points for Fourmile (two frees) while Michael Morrissey, Jamie Barron, Sean Walsh and Ciaran Walsh also worked the umpires.

Abbeyside's dominance continued on the restart. Rian Walsh rattled off three points in the space of six minutes as the gap increased to ten.
