A wonderful weekend of snooker took place this weekend at the Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney for the 2026 Munster Snooker Club Championships.
With over 40 teams from clubs all over Munster taking part, including 7 from Waterford, it was a double delight for the New Institute club from Nenagh, who took the honours in both the Championship and the Premier competitions.
A superb showing from our own Waterford teams as Cappoquin Snooker Club made it to the quarter-final stage of the Championship section, whilst Dungarvan Snooker Club had two teams qualify for the knockout stages in the same section. Dungarvan (B) were beaten in the quarter finals also, but Dungarvan (A) went all the way to the final, only narrowly losing 3-2 in the final match to the New Institute (C) team. A superb effort from all the lads and a great achievement for the club. Both Dungarvan teams will now return to Killarney next week to compete in the All-Ireland Championships, and we wish them the very best of luck.
