Golf: Anna Dawson shines in Portugal

Waterford golfer Anna Dawson opened her week at the Portuguese International Ladies’ Championship with an impressive four-under-par 69.

The WLR Granville Hotel Overall winner is the leading Irish player in the field, which is currently headed by Czech golfer Anna Ludvova and Spain’s Amanda Revuelta. Dawson will continue her challenge on Friday and will be hoping to contend at the business end of the tournament.

Darts: Munster Championship in Ennis

The Munster Darts Championship 2026 takes place this weekend at Treacy’s West County Hotel in Ennis, with Waterford sending a record 67 players.

Action begins on Friday night with the singles competition. Waterford will field three men’s teams and one ladies’ team in Saturday’s team events, while five youth teams take to the oche on Sunday.

The county’s strong representation reflects Darts’ growing popularity locally, with teams selected through open trials held from June to October.

Soccer: Munster Senior Cup Quarter-Final

Waterford FC welcome Cobh Ramblers to Villa’s Connors Park in the Munster Senior Cup quarter-final, with kick-off at 5.30 pm.

Waterford advanced with a 3-1 win over Riverstown FC, thanks to goals from Muhammad Oladiti, Jan Wozniak, and Jack Garrett. Cobh progressed with a 3-0 victory over Leeside United, with Wilson Waweru scoring twice and Kai O’Neill also on target.

With Waterford’s senior side in action against Bohemians on Friday, Eddie Nolan’s Under-20s are expected to face Fran Rockett’s first-choice Cobh team. The Ramblers are the current holders, while Waterford last lifted the trophy in 2024.

Basketball: Women’s Super League

Brunell face SETU Waterford Wildcats in the Women’s Super League at the GCU Arena, Parochial Hall. Tip-off is at 7 pm.

Hurling: Allianz League Division 1A

Waterford welcome Limerick to Walsh Park in Round 2 of Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League.

Coverage begins at 1.45 pm, with a throw-in at 2 pm.

Ladies Football: Lidl National League Division 1

Waterford travel to Fitzgerald Park, Tralee, to face Kerry in Division 1 of the Lidl National Football League.

Throw-in is at 2 pm, with live coverage on TG4.
