Déise manager Ciaran Curran said that it was a big improvement on their last meeting with the Leesiders; "I was really delighted with the effort from the girls, I thought they really upped the anti considering the last day we suffered a heavy defeat against Cork, but at the same time we had chances in the match to be closer, I thought our first half performance was good but we've plenty to work on".
Katie Murray had two goal chances which could have brought them closer. The second struck the post.
Waterford will now enter the All Ireland series which begins next month.
