Waterford have booked their place in the last four of the Allianz hurling league following an impressive victory over 13-man Clare at a windswept Walsh Park this afternoon.
Stephen Bennett gave a man of the match display, hitting fourteen points as the home side delivered an excellent second half display after trialing by two points at half-time.
Clare, with wind advantage held a 1-10 to 0-11 lead at the interval, with Peter Duggan's penalty the crucial score.
Waterford came out with great intensity and energy upon the resumption and were in front five minutes in, thanks to scores from Stephen Bennett, Peter Hogan and a wonderful sideline cut from the lively Shane Bennett.
Pauric Mahony and Austin Gleeson continued the work the scoreboard as Waterford bossed proceedings, before a bad day got worse for Clare as Conor Cleary and Peter Duggan received their marching orders from Kilkenny official Sean Cleere.
The Déise outscored Clare by 0-20 to 0-4 in a dominant second half, as it ended WATERFORD 0-31 CLARE 1-14.
Man of the match was Stephen Bennett.
Stephen told WLR Sport, there's a great buzz amongst the entire squad at the moment.
Waterford defender Callum Lyons was thrilled with the win.
Waterford will now face Galway in next weekend's semi-final.
