Deise hurler Tommy Ryan has won his first WLR Granville Hotel GAA award.

The Tallow forward was the judges' choice for February. The 29 year old has scored 4-5 in four league starts for Paraic Fanning's charges including 2-1 against Laois.

He was surprised to pick up the accolade.

Waterford have struck fourteen goals in the league so far and Ryan says that management have encouraged them to go for green flags.

He is grateful to Derek McGrath for giving him a second chance with Waterford in 2016 after a spell away from the inter county scene.

He currently teaches in Scoil Mhuire in Tallow.
He says that Waterford and Clare will attack tomorrow's league quarter final in Walsh Park even though they will face each other in the first round of the Munster championship in May.
You can hear the full-interview with the Tommy Ryan on this evening's 'Lár Na Páirce' GAA show on WLR from 6:10pm
