The Waterford County Board are hoping the revamped Walsh Park will be competed in time for the 2020 Championship.
The re-development which is expected to cost up to seven million euro was given the green light by An Bord Pleanala last Friday.
County Board Chairman Paddy Joe Ryan says he believes that the finished product will be a venue to be proud of.
It will hold 16,500, and he says that it's important for the project to stay within budget and not place a financial burden on Waterford clubs.
Meanwhile Paddy Joe Ryan expects that the Munster Council will approve Walsh Park to stage championship games this summer.
He said there is remedial work to be done from the Slattery report but he reckoned that the games will go ahead with the reduced capacity.
The Deise have been drawn at home to Clare and Limerick and the capacity will be set at eleven thousand.
The County Board Chairman said the regulations must be abided by for spectators safety.
