Carrick United will carry the Waterford League banner into the the next stage of the Munster Junior Cup following Sunday's results. However the Premier League leaders Hibernians bowed out of the competition as did Division 1A outfit Piltown.
Mark O'Keeffe scored his 42nd goal of the current season to give Hibs the lead away to Pike Rovers of Limerick after 22 minutes but goals one minute each side of the break put the home side in front and they went on to score a third goal late on. Final score. Pike Rovers 3 Hibernians 1
Piltown lost at home in their home ground Kildalton Park to another Limerick outfit, Geraldines. Goals scored by Dean McNamara, Shane Byrne and Karl Turner proved to much for Piltown. Final score. Piltown 0 Geraldines 3.
Carrick United who are previous winners of the Munster Cup proved to strong for Broadford in Tom Drohan Park.Rory Finnegan put Carrick in front after 13 minutes. Joe Hart made it two nil on 40 minutes and Rory Finnegan struck again after 72 minutes. Final score. Carrick United 3 Broadford 0
Tramore advanced into the last eight of the FAI Youth Cup. The holders defeated Avenue United in Ennis by 3-1. Cameron Kent scored a brace and Daire Burke was also on the mark as Tramore ran out 3-1 winners. They will join another Waterford team, the Villa in the quarter final's. They came out on top against Freebooters of Kilkenny on Saturday.
