Waterford hurlers made it a second successive win in Division 1(B) of the Allianz National league with a comfortable win over fourteen man Laois at a bitterly cold O' Moore Park this afternoon.

Patrick Curran and Tommy Ryan both netted a brace of goals as the Déise packed too much for Eddie Brennan's side in Portlaoise.

Waterford held a 2-12 to 0-5 lead at the interval, with Curran and Ryan raising green flags, while Stephen Bennett continued from where he left off last weekend as he shot seven points in the opening period, and Mikey Kearney chipped in with three.

The home side were reduced to fourteen men at the start of the second half as Lee Cleere received his marching orders.

Laois, to their credit came into the game as their top scorer Mark Kavanagh, along with with Mark Kelly and Neil Foyle hit points.

Waterford regained control as Patrick Curran clinically netted his second goal, and Tommy Ryan completed the rout.

Loais netted through Mark Kavanagh following an initial save from Billy Nolan, but Waterford finished with points from Patrick Curran and Maurice Shanahan as it ended, Waterford 4-22 Laois 1-15.

Elsewhere in Division 1(B) this afternoon, Carlow scored a late equaliser as they earned a noteworthy draw against Galway at Netwatch Cullen Park (0-20 apiece), while Dublin made it back to back wins win an easy 2-19 to 0-12 win over Offaly in Tullamore.

In Division 1(A), John Conlon and Podge Collins scored goals in either half as Clare beat Kilkenny by 2-20 to 1-22 in Ennis,

Wexford got the better of Cork by 1-18 to 17 points at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

David Dunne scored the goal for Wexford.

There was no joy for the Waterford footballers who suffered a second successive defeat in Division 4 of the National Football league going down to Limerick in Rathkeale this afternoon.

The Shannonsiders lead by 0-9 to 0-5 having played with the wind in the opening half, with Sean Whelan-Barrett and Jason Curry on target for the visitors.

The crucial score came fifteen minutes from time as Patrick Begley (who ended with 1-4) netted for Limerick as they prevailed by 1-13 to 0-10, it's Derry at home next weekend for Benji Whelan's charges.
