Mount Sion were crowned the Munster Under 17 School's champions in dramatic fashion in Douglas, Co Cork yesterday.
They came from behind to defeat the hot favourites St Brendan's from Killarney 4-1 in extra time.
The Kingdom outfit were going for a five-in-a-row triumphs but the never say die spirit of the Monastery Boy's paid rich dividends.
St Brendan's looked odds on to achieve their aim when they went in front inside the opening ten minutes and they held that lead until the last minute when Jamie Brazil equalised to take the game into extratime.
Alex Phelan, who scored a hat-trick in the semi-final victory over De La Salle scored two goals in the first half of the extra 20 minutes to put Mount Sion 3-1 in front and Ivan Homoki sealed the win with a 4th goal in the second period of extratime.
Jamie Gleeson, the brother of Austin Gleeson played superbly in defence along with Chris Mursean, David Akintomide and goalkeeper Jack Byrne. Paul Keane, the manager and the coach Brian Nolan, the former Waterford player have now completed an unprecedented double with Mount Sion this season.
Two weeks ago they were crowned Under 19 Munster champions.
Both teams will now set their sights on bringing All-Ireland titles to the famous Waterford school.
It's an extraordinary period for young players of Cnoc Sion and their mentors.
