Waterford made in back to back wins and claimed their first victory in Walsh Park since February 2017 overcoming Clare in the final round of the Allianz National hurling league this afternoon.
Clare started the brighter and raced into a 0-5 to 0-3 lead, before Waterford responded with scores from Patrick Curran, and Conor Gleeson.
Clare netted the games first goal as Conor McGrath finished from close range midway through the opening period.
Waterford responded well and began to get on top with Patrick Curran from frees and play chipping in some excellent scores, with Kevin Moran and the impressive Mikey Kearney also on taregt.
The home side lead by three at the interval, 1-13 to 1-10.
Clare were quickest out of the blocks upon the resumption, Tony Kelly showed his class with a brace of points to tie up proceedings at 1-13 apiece before Waterford began to get on top again.

Patrick Curran, who finsihed the game with 1-13 scored at ease from both play and frees, while Ballyduff Upper's Mikey Kearney chipped in with 1-4 to maintain his fine form.
A Peter Duggan point reduced the lead to a single point with 15 minutes to play but Waterford pushed on with Stephen Bennett and Patrick Curran replying with scores.
Waterford held out for a morale boosting win on a 1-23 to 1-20 score line.
Waterford and Cork will meet in the relegation play-off next Sunday.
Déise selector Eoin Murphy was delighted with the effort and work rate of the players.
Eoin says they were looking for a solid performance over the 70 minutes.
Eoin told WLR Commentator Kieran O' Connor after the game that the win will give the squad good confidence going forward.

Dublin beat Laois by 3-23 to 0-17 to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the Allianz League.
A very late goal for Antrim earned them a 2-21 to 2-18 win over Offaly. Nigel Elliott got the goal.
Laois will face Antrim in the 1B relegation playoff.
