Waterford go in search of their first victory in Division 1A of the National hurling League this afternoon when they face Cork in Pairc Uí Chaoimh.

The Déise have made a sluggish start to the campaign with three successive defeats and disappointing performances against Wexford, Tipperary and Kilkenny.

Cork will also be keen to get a win, the Rebels started with a home win over Kilkenny but have suffered back to back defeats against Wexford and table toppers Clare.

Waterford's Austin Gleeson says they are working hard on getting up to full fitness and are hoping to put things right on the field:

"This time of year we're trying to get back in top condition...the lads are putting in tremendous work on and off the field to get back in condition and everyone's feeling good."

The Mount Sion man says they're looking forward to today's challenge against the Leesiders:

"We played there last year against Wexford and it took us a while to get used to the surroundings and the feel down there in that game...hopefully it won't take us that long this time. Cork have only won their first game against Kilkenny, so it's going to be a good game they're on two points we're on zero so it's a relegation fight I supposee. We have to start being dogged and fight harder and try get the result."

The action is underway at 3pm.
