Waterford will open up their National Hurling League campaign this afternoon when they play Wexford in Walsh Park.
The sides last met in the league at the Quarter-Final stage in 2016 where Waterford recorded a narrow hard fought win in Wexford Park
Davy Fitzgerald's charges picked up some early season silverware last weekend with victory over Kilkenny in the Walsh Cup Final
Ian O' Regan is between the posts for Waterford today and he says underfoot conditions will be testing: "The pitch is the same for both of us, at this time of the year you can't really expect much. We know it's going to be heavy."
Déise manager Derek McGrath says he will try out a number of players during the campaign whatever the results will be: "You'll see a certain squad rotation from match to match, not even based on how we play, you know if Wexford were beat us convincingly we will be changing it for Tipp, but we will be changing it anyway. That's part of the planning process, based on trying to unearth a few players and a few things ahead of the Championship."
Throw-in is at 2.00pm and the game will be broadcast live here on WLR, with commentary team of Kieran O' Connor and Shane Ahearne, thanks to George Corbett Skoda.

Joey Veale from Kilrossanty is one of the Déise's expereinced forwards and he says Wicklow away is never an easy tie: "Aughrim is always a hard place to go to. We don't know what they'll be like, Johnny Evans is over them now as well, bringing new life to their team obviously when a new manager comes in. We have a full panel of players to choose from so hopefully we'll get the best on the day."
