The 18th Annual Cleanzone Technology Paddy Joe Curran Memorial Race took place near the Marine Bar just outside Dungarvan on Sunday, attracting a large and enthusiastic turnout from runners and walkers alike.

A total of 207 participants took part on the day, with 133 competing in the 5km run and a further 74 taking part in the walk, all in support of a worthy local cause. Weather conditions were favourable, helping to create a great atmosphere along the scenic route.

In a highly competitive men’s race, first place went to Robbie Wade (independent) with an impressive winning time of 27:43. Raivis Zakis of West Waterford AC finished a close second in 28:16, while Paul Cashman of Watergrasshill AC rounded out the podium in third place with a time of 28:32.

The women’s race was led home by Kealey Tideswell of Clonmel AC, who took first place in an excellent time of 31:18. Kate Veale (West Waterford AC) claimed second place in 33:25, while clubmate Marie Mahony secured third in 37:31, completing a strong showing for the local club.

Beyond the competitive element, the event once again proved to be a tremendous community occasion, bringing together participants, volunteers, and supporters in memory of Paddy Joe Curran. The event also delivered a major boost for charity, with an impressive €6,020 raised for The Solas Centre, which provides vital cancer support services across the region.

Organisers expressed their gratitude to all runners, walkers, sponsors, and volunteers who made the day a success, along with Cleanzone Technology for their continued backing of the event.

The strong turnout and generous fundraising total highlighted the ongoing popularity and importance of this well-established memorial race on the local sporting calendar.
