Déise hurling manager Liam Cahill says that he will be doing everything in his power to beat his native county in Sunday's league game between Tipperary and Waterford at Semple Stadium. The Ballingarry man won an All Ireland as a player with the Premier County in 2001 and enjoyed success as a manager with the Tipp minors, under 20s and under 21s.
"It's a certainty to meet Tipp with the way the new structures are. It's an environment up there I'm very familiar with and I've a lot of great friends in Tipperary and that will remain so but we'll be giving it everything we've got to try and win Sunday. Anytime we meet Tipp during my reign, I can assure you we'll doing our very best to come out on top."
Cahill played with Tipp boss Liam Sheedy during the nineties and marked him in training as well. "Several times. Liam was a guy that wore his heart on his sleeve. Every day you marked Liam Sheedy, be it in club championship or training inside in Thurles, you earned it. He always brought his character out on the field which is enthusiasm, aggression and passion. You see all of that in the Tipperary team."
