Conor Murray from Rathgormack will captain the Waterford senior footballers next season.

He has been part of the senior panel since 2016 and was Rathgormack’s star forward in 2019 as the green and red won the county title for the first time in twenty years.

Rathgormack lifted their first Conway Cup since 1999 following a 2-6 to 1-6 win over Ballinacourty in October, while despite a battling display they bowed out out of the Munster Championship following a narrow extra-time defeat to  St. Joseph’s Miltown-Malbay.

Conor has been part of the Déise squad for the last number of seasons and will be keen to drive things on even further next season as Benji Whelan’s side aim to secure promotion from Division 4, the League campaign begins with a home tie against Limerick on January 25th. The Déise will take on the same opposition later in the year in the opening round of the Munster Championship.
