A Co. Waterford man says he’s still coming to terms what he’s achieved, helping the Ireland Showjumping team secure qualification for the Tokyo Olympics next year.

Peter Moloney from Colligan played a key role on an unforgettable day for the Sport as Ireland also captured the Nations Cup overcoming Italy and Colombia in Barcelona.

It means Ireland will have a show-jumping team at the games for the first time since Athens in 2004.

Peter spoke to WLR Sport this morning; “Just starting to sink in now, fantastic day , we’re working to this all year, unfortunately our main goal was the European Championships to qualify and it didn’t go to plan for us so all the focus was on Barcelona this wee, and everyone pulled together and worked really hard to get it done and thank god we got it done you know”.

It was the last chance to secure qualification, and Peter said they knew what they had to do.

And you can catch the full-Interview with Peter Molney on this evening’s “On The Ball” fron ten past six here on WLR.
