With the inclement weather conditions and STATUS ORANGE and RED weather alerts in place for the coming days, Gardai are advising motorists NOT to travel unless necessary.
Poor conditions have been reported on secondary routes across Waterford.
Gardai in Dungarvan report that conditions on the N25 between Youghal and Ardmore are quite slippery and icy. Drive with care.
If you do have to travel, allow extra time for your journey and for your car to de-frost before setting off. Don't forget that stopping distances are ten times longer when driving on snow and ice. Slow down and drive with extra care. Take some time to use a sweeping brush or something similar to brush all snow off your car before setting off on your journey. Clear snow from your headlights and use dipped headlights at all times, regardless of driving in daylight or darkness.
Public Transport
Bus Eireann say services in the east of the country are seriously affected by the poor conditions. School transport services will not operate in Status Red areas. See their website for specific routes.

Wexford Bus say services are currently operating as they continue to monitor the poor weather.
Several Irish Rail lines are running with delays due to a points issue. See their website for more details. Tomorrow (1st), all rail services will close between 12pm and 2pm and remain closed until midday Fri (2nd) at least.
There is significant disruption to flights today. A number of Aer Lingus flights have been cancelled. Check with your airline before travelling to the airport.
Cork Airport: The runway & taxiways have reopened after further snow & slush clearance by maintenance teams. Flights are reboarding and will resume presently.
Dublin Airport: Dublin Airport is open but there are significant cancellations & delays due to adverse weather. All Ryanair flights to/from Dublin Airport have been cancelled for the remainder of the day, 28th Feb 2018. All affected customers will be notified of their options by Ryanair via email/SMS text message. Aer Lingus has cancelled a large number of its short-haul services, but is aiming to operate a full transatlantic service.
Rosslare Europort told WLR that the Stena Line service will sail to Fishguard at 6.10pm as scheduled.
