Conductor of the orchestra Stephen Mackey joined me in studio to let us know about the event, which takes place at 8pm Wednesday May 29th at Ardscoil na Mara, Tramore.  Doors open at 7.30pm. As well as the orchestra, there will be a number of guest performances on the night, as Stephen outlined in the interview below

A line up of accomplished musicians

This 60-piece orchestra features an array of talent, and ages vary from 13 right up to 80.  The musicians will be joined by a group of very accomplished soloists who perform regularly on national and international stages. From the giants of classical music to the masters of jazz, pop, cinema and stage, the night will cater for all musical tastes.

One of the special guests on the night will the Waterford Male Voice Choir conducted by Cian O'Carroll.

Stephen is delighted with the new venue of Ardscoil na Mara in Tramore.  He says the foyer, which is where the concert will be held, was recommended to him by a sound engineer for its acoustics.

Getting tickets for the Summer Proms

Stephen tells me you can buy your tickets on the door; they cost €10 and €7 concession. Children under 12 are free. There will be a collection on the night for the Irish Hospice Foundation. You'll find out more details about that charity here.
