A young man remains in critical condition in hospital after yesterday's assault in Tallow.
The man in his mid-twenties sustained serious injuries in an incident that happened on Barrack Street shortly after midnight on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he remained overnight.
A man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear before Carrick-on-Suir district court this morning.
Speaking to WLR News on this week's Waterford Garda Watch, Sergeant Deirdre O'Neill says it's believed someone saw the incident happen:
"Gardaí believe that the suspect - a male in his late-30s - had travelled from Lismore to Tallow by bus, arriving just after 12 midnight.
"Gardaí are looking for anyone who was on the bus to contact them.
"Also, from the preliminary reviews of CCTV, Gardaí believe that somebody would have seen the interactions between these two men and they are asking them to come forward and have a chat with Gardaí in Dungarvan Garda Station."
Dungarvan Garda Station can be reached on 058 48600.
Meanwhile, a separate assault that happened in Waterford City is also under investigation.
Details of that incident can be found here.
