Met Éireann has issued a Yellow Weather Warning for fog in Waterford, warning of hazardous travelling conditions overnight and into Sunday morning.
The alert comes into effect from 9pm on Saturday, January 17, and remains valid until 10am on Sunday, January 18.
Forecasters warn that dense fog and freezing fog may develop across the county. This will lead to poor visibility, particularly on rural roads, higher ground, and near waterways.
Drivers in Waterford are advised to slow down, use fog lights appropriately, and allow extra time for journeys. Pedestrians and cyclists should also take extra care due to reduced visibility.
Hazardous Conditions Expected Overnight
Met Éireann said the fog could become locally dense, creating dangerous conditions for early morning travel.
Freezing fog may also occur in places, increasing the risk of icy patches on untreated roads and footpaths.
The warning forms part of a wider weather alert covering several counties across the country.
Other Counties Affected
In addition to Waterford, the Yellow Fog Warning also applies to:
Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Galway, Leitrim and Roscommon.
Motorists travelling between counties are urged to check local conditions before setting off.
