Met Éireann has issued another Moderate Yellow Weather Warning for Rain across Waterford and parts of the South-East, effective from 1 PM tomorrow, Monday until 9 AM tomorrow, Tuesday.
The warning, also covers Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Cork. With many of those counties having experienced severe flooding this week.
Forecasters warn heavy rain on saturated ground, combined with high rivers and tides, could cause flooding and travel disruption.
Residents and motorists are urged to take precautions and plan alternative routes where necessary.
Flooding
Recent heavy rain has already caused significant flooding in Waterford.
Residents in Passage East experienced severe impacts when the local brook overflowed during last night’s rainfall under a previous Status Yellow weather warning.
The floodwaters affected homes in the Brookside area and spread throughout the village, reaching Post Office Square.
Flooding has also caused travel disruption in Waterford City. A section of the R680 Inner Ring Road, between SuperValu in Kilbarry and the RSC, and other roads across the county were this week due to flooding.
Authorities monitoring situation
Authorities continue to monitor river levels and drainage systems, urging residents to stay informed about changing weather conditions.
Heavy and persistent rain will continue throughout the week, especially in southern and eastern coastal counties.
Rain will continue to fall on already saturated ground, with high river levels and tides expected, increasing the risk of further flooding along rivers and coastal areas.
Authorities urge residents to monitor local conditions closely via www.met.ie and track river levels at www.waterlevel.ie..
The warning comes on the back of news that Toaiseach Michael Martin is due to visit areas worst affected by flooding tomorrow.
