Help is at hand for people who may feel less confident about their literacy skills, particularly when it comers to sitting the driver theory test.

The Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board are starting a course in February to help people with the test.

Adult Literacy Organiser, Margaret Howard, said some people need some extra support and they are there to do just that.

She told Déise Today that there can be lots of different reasons why people come into them.

"Maybe it takes you a little bit of time to read through a sentence. Maybe you find it hard to remember what you've read. Maybe you can't remember things in the right order," Margaret said.

The wording of the question can be difficult and it may take some people longer to de-code sentences.

The 12 week course aims to build the confidence of their learners while providing a safe space for people to practice in small groups.

"We would have people coming into us who have maybe gone for their theory test a number of times and maybe they've tried everything else," Margaret said.
