An Irish-language film set in Waterford will soon be seen by an international audience.
Bankside Films has picked up the world rights to the movie that's broken records for a film set in Irish.
An Cailín Ciúin or The Quiet Girl is based in An Rinn and stars young Catherine Lynch and Waterford's own, Carrie Crowley.
It's broken box office records by pulling in more than €800,000 - beating the previous record for an Irish-language film, which was €164,000, set by Arracht in 2020.
According to a report in the Sunday Times, Bankside, the London-based international sales company, will sell the film globally.
They're expected to enter discussions with distributors from several countries including the US, China, Japan, France, and Korea.
The paper reports that a deal has already been struck with Australia and New Zealand.
An Cailín Ciúin picked up seven Irish Film and Television Awards earlier this year.
