The mother of three children whose bodies were found in Co. Dublin last week has been charged in connection with their deaths.

Nine-year-old Conor, seven-year-old Darragh, and three-year-old Carla McGinley were found dead at a house in Parson’s Court, Newcastle on Friday evening.

Their mother, who's in her 40s, was found by Gardaí close to the scene, and had since been receiving medical treatment at Tallaght University Hospital.

However, she was taken into custody yesterday on suspicion of murder.

She appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice earlier today where she was charged and remanded in custody until February 5th.

Her solicitor made an application for psychiatric treatment while in custody, which was granted by the judge.
